State police are determining the origin of a fire that damaged a U-Haul truck
State police are determining the origin of a May 17 fire that extensively damaged a 2012 U-Haul truck at 1045 Route 242. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be the result of direct human involvement. The circumstances surrounding the fire are considered suspicious. The fire occurred at about 12:05 a.m. at Jay Auto Repair. Property owner Douglas Demers contacted the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU), whose members conducted a scene examination. The vehicle sustained extensive damage from fire, heat, and smoke. It was parked adjacent to Cross Road. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Sgt.
