A substitute teacher told police he sexually assaulted a female student four times

A substitute teacher at the Lowell Graded School told police he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female student four times, including twice in a classroom, once on a school bus and once on a picnic table near the school. Jesse Waldenville, 41, of Lowell, pleaded not guilty in Orleans Superior Court on Friday to four counts of felony sexual assault – no consent, felony repeated aggravated sexual assault on a child and felony lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Judge Lisa Warren ordered Waldenville to be held without bail based on the argument by Orleans County State’s Attorney Farzana Leyva. Judge Warren also ordered a competency evaluation to be conducted on Waldenville and set additional conditions that he not contact, abuse or harrass the alleged victim. State’s Attorney Leyva also told the court that Waldenville moved to Vermont in 2022 from his home state of Pennsylvania. Waldenville, who is now being detained at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, faces a possible sentence of 25 years to life in prison and $155,000 in fines.
