Newport Police cited an Irasburg landscaping business owner for home improvement fraud
Newport Police cited an Irasburg landscaping business owner for home improvement fraud after the man allegedly took $10,000 for a rock wall job that he never did. Shayne Bergeron, 37, is scheduled to appear in Orleans Criminal Court on Oct. 24 to answer the charge. According to a police report, Newport Police were contacted on Aug. 21 by a Racetrack Road homeowner who reported paying Bergeron and his company, Rock Solid Landscaping, an advance of $7,000 toward work on a stone wall in September 2021. Bergeron later requested an additional $3,000 for materials, which the homeowner paid, the homeowner told police, but a stone wall was never completed. Bergeron allegedly did not refund the homeowner when the homeowner requested it. “This individual has also been charged with home improvement fraud in several other communities in this area,” said Chief Travis Bingham.
