A man listed as homeless in St. Johnsbury is being held

 A man listed as homeless in St. Johnsbury is being held without bail following several alleged crimes, including illegal contact with a 16-year-old girl and an incident of “road rage.” Saladene Stevens, 32, was charged with criminal threatening, violation of conditions of release, unlawful mischief, gross negligent operation and a felony charge of second-degree domestic assault. Stevens pleaded not guilty to all charges. Saturday morning, Stevens was driving a Jeep and reportedly cut off another motorist, Stevens, stopped the Jeep in the middle of the road, get out of the vehicle and threaten him. Later that night when police  responded to a report of a car crash on Railroad Street they found Stevens lying on the ground next to the vehicle. Police established through witnesses that Stevens had driven erratically south on Railroad Street, failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection and struck the building housing the Star Theatre before striking a metal trash can near Anthony’s Diner. Police learned that before the crash, Stevens had been at the residence of a 16-year-old girl who he was court-ordered to stay away from. The two had reportedly been involved in a sexual relationship. Police reported he was found in possession of 600 mg of oxycodone, while he was being taken into custody at the hospital.
