Additional $5,000 has been raised for the park
As the plan for a modern skateboard park advances in Bethlehem, an additional $5,000 has been raised for the park in Brendan Foley’s memory. Foley, who died unexpectedly on Jan. 14 in a snowboarding accident on Cannon Mountain, was a local skateboarding trendsetter who was instrumental in establishing the current Bethlehem Skateboard Park three decades ago. It marked the first of its kind in the region. Before his passing, Foley and group of residents and skateboarding friends looked at a new design and funding opportunities for what is planned to be a $250,000 renovation and expansion of the park, which is located at the corner of Main and Agassiz streets. Toward that effort, which is being funded by a mix of private donations and matching grants, more than $53,000 has been raised to date through the Bethlehem Skate Park Brendan Foley Memorial Fund.
