Authorities are searching for Robert Dragon

Authorities are searching for Robert Dragon, 34, a wanted fugitive, considered dangerous following a series of incidents across multiple northeastern Vermont towns on Tuesday. State Police responded around noon to reports of Dragon traveling through Barton and Irasburg in a stolen blue Volvo. Police say Dragon was driving recklessly and was seen accompanied by a second vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry. A trooper located Dragon parked at a residence in Barton and ordered him to exit his vehicle, he refused, speeding away toward an assisting Morrisville Police officer and through an active construction zone on Burton Hill Road. Law enforcement did not pursue him, and he remains at large. Officers found the Toyota Camry abandoned in a driveway on Vermont Route 58 in Irasburg shortly after. Jessica Hunt, 34, and Jeremy Somerset, 49, both of Eden, were found in a nearby shed and arrested for unlawful trespass. Dragon, who has no fixed address is wanted on multiple active warrants. Including a warrant out of Orleans County for eluding police, reckless endangerment, and driving with a suspended license, and a warrant from Washington County for felony vehicle theft and violating conditions of release. Police have now issued charges against him for felony eluding, negligent operation, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Authorities are urging the public not to approach Dragon, describing him as extremely dangerous. Anyone with information on Dragon’s whereabouts is asked to call State Police in Derby.
