Chip Schneider was found not guilty on a charge of 2nd-degree attempted murder

Chip Schneider was found not guilty on a charge of 2nd-degree attempted murder on Tuesday. The jury deliberated for about three hours after the trial ended. The attempted murder charge carried a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. But it was a hung jury on the other two felony aggravated assault charges. The Caledonia County State’s Attorney’s Office now plans to re-file those charges. Schneider had been accused of firing multiple gunshots into an occupied Chevy pick-up during a dispute over the theft of a safe containing thousands of dollars in cash in 2021. Schneider, who spent over a year and a half in jail, is now released on conditions and bail which are still in place until the next trial.
