Colchester Man Arrested After DUI Chase on I 91 Stopped by Spike Strips

A Colchester man was arrested early Monday after leading State Police down I-91 until spike strips helped bring him to a stop. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched around 3:20 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive driver in Lyndon. The driver, later identified as Ronald Finkley, 52, reportedly woke up and left the area before troopers arrived. With help from the public, troopers located Finkley’s vehicle traveling southbound on I-91 in Barton. Finkley refused to pull over and continued driving. Troopers deployed spike strips, successfully stopping the vehicle a short time later. Finkley was arrested without incident and charged with his third offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, grossly negligent operation, eluding a police officer, and driving with a criminally suspended license. Finkley was issued a citation to appear in Orleans Superior Court on July 1.
