Four Barre Teens Linked to Suspicious Fire at Colchester Bowling Alley
Four young males from Barre have been linked to a suspicious fire that damaged the Spare Time Bowling Alley late Friday night. According to Colchester Police, the fire broke out just before midnight. The facility’s internal alarm system and sprinklers kicked in quickly, preventing what could have been a major disaster. Authorities say the blaze was contained to a single room and fully extinguished by the time firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported, and the business was able to reopen the following day. Detective Corporal Michael West said that by Saturday afternoon, four young males had been identified in connection to the incident. Two of the suspects—both under the age of 18—are now facing felony charges, including unlawful mischief and second-degree arson. Multiple agencies, including fire departments from St. Michael’s College, Winooski, Burlington, and the Vermont Air National Guard, responded to the scene. Police praised the building’s fire suppression system for preventing significant damage to the multi-million-dollar facility.
