Free Cone Day Draws Crowds Despite April Snowflakes
It may have been a little chilly for a cone, but that didn’t stop Vermonters from lining up—some of them more than once—for Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s. Despite snowflakes in April, the scoop shop on Church Street in Burlington saw hundreds of happy customers lining the block, all eager for a free taste of their favorite flavors. Free Cone Day started in 1979 as a way for the company to thank customers and they give out more than a million scoops worldwide each year. In Burlington alone, they serve up to 7,000 cones between noon and 8 p.m. There were also participating scoop shops in Waterbury, Smugglers’ Notch, and Manchester, so if you missed it, mark your calendars for next year.
