Governor Scott has signed into law a bill legalizing online sports betting

Governor Scott has signed into law a bill legalizing online sports betting. With this move, Vermont joins almost three dozen states where sports betting is legal. The Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery will manage sports wagering through contracts with two to six sports betting operators. These operators will be required to present an annual responsible gaming plan to the state, covering aspects like problem gambling materials, resources for bettors with gambling concerns, house-imposed player limits, and self-exclusion programs. Additionally, the department, in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health, will annually report to the Legislature on the impact of sports betting on problem gambling in Vermont.
