Hardwick Police, Fire, and Rescue were dispatched at 7:01 a.m

Hardwick Police, Fire, and Rescue were dispatched at 7:01 a.m. Thursday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car in front of M&M Beverage at on VT RT 14. Police say Andrew Shepheard, 41, of Calais, was operating a 2020 GMC Sierra and didn’t see Axel Lettow, 80, of Hardwick, crossing the road, hitting him with the truck. Lettow was transported to Copley Hospital with critical injuries and then transferred to UVMC in Burlington. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Vermont State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
