Normar Rivera faces one count of second degree murder

Nomar Rivera, 44, faces one count of second degree murder and two counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of his neighbor at 568 Sullivan St. in Berlin last week. Ramos allegedly shot and killed Christopher Veliz, 44, following a dispute on Feb. 3. Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval determined Veliz died from multiple gunshot wounds. Rivera is currently being held without bail. He is also accused of recklessly firing a firearm into an occupied vehicle, officials said. An arraignment will be held in the Coos County Superior Court. A hearing date has not yet been assigned.
