Northern Border Alliance Task Force issued its progress report
On Wednesday, a little more than a year after forming, the Northern Border Alliance Task Force issued its progress report for the second half of 2024, detailing arrests, incidents, and collaboration with the U.S. Border Patrol about suspicious activity at the Canadian border. According to state officials, the initiative has been a success that has benefited federal partners and reduced federal violations. The program was launched to tackle illegal immigration at the Canadian border, as well as crimes and illicit activity occurring within 25 air miles of the border. It makes grants available to local, county, state police, and other state law enforcement agencies, such as Fish and Game and forest rangers, through funding provided to the New Hampshire Department of Safety to cover overtime costs for officers, which is the largest expense, and equipment and training costs.
