One person was killed in a single-car accident over the weekend

One person was killed in a single-car accident over the weekend. Remington  Smith, 25, of Carroll died in the accident which was reported at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, May 10. Whitefield Police said the accident occurred on Airport Road just over the Jefferson town line. Smith was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation showed Smith was traveling east on Airport Rd, failed to negotiate a corner and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went into a skid, traveling across the west bound lane and striking the stand of trees. While speed appears to be a factor, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
