Police took a transient man into custody
Police took a transient man into custody on February 13 after tracking a vehicle he allegedly stole from a local business. Joel Gouin, 38, transient, was in Court on February 14 on a host of charges from the incident. It began when troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on Parker Road in Danville. While troopers were searching for a suspect reportedly on foot, a Toyota 4Runner was reported stolen from the Red Barn Brewery nearby. With the assistance of Toyota Vehicle GPS, troopers were able to track the vehicle, which was mapped in Lowell, Vermont. Troopers from the Derby barracks apprehended Gouin, who they say was operating the stolen vehicle in Troy. Gouin was lodged on $5,000 bail on an active warrant and issued the citation for February 14 to answer for the Danville incidents. Charges include violation of conditions of release, burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny, possession of stolen property, and operation without the owner’s consent.
