Quebec Hiker Rescued After Fall in Icy Conditions Near Mt Clay

A 29-year-old hiker was rescued Saturday afternoon after falling and injuring himself while hiking in treacherous conditions near Mt. Clay. William Tessier fromĀ  Quebec, slipped on icy terrain along the Jewell Trail and fell several feet off the path, striking an object. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., and Tessier called 911 for help. New Hampshire Fish and Game contacted the Cog Railway for assistance, which provided rescuers a train ride to the Skyline intersection, saving them nearly three miles of hiking in rain and icy winds. The first rescuers arrived at Tessier at 7:24 p.m. and treated him for injuries to his leg and shoulder, as well as hypothermia.
