Route 114 in East Burke was briefly closed to traffic on Monday

Route 114 in East Burke was briefly closed to traffic on Monday so that heavy equipment could remove a flatbed truck that had gone partially off the road.

The accident occurred near the Pinkham Road intersection. There was no word as to what caused the flatbed from Roland’s Wrecker Service in St. Johnsbury to go off the road. There was talk at the scene that a problem with the power steering may have been a factor, though that was unconfirmed. The truck was transporting a vehicle on its flatbed at the time. The call came in shortly after 2 p.m. and Route 114 was reduced to one lane as crews awaited the arrival of apparatus to pull the wrecker back up to the road. Scanner traffic indicated that the road would be closed altogether during the truck’s extraction.
