Schools Locked Down in Haverhill Area After Threat to Officer No Active Shooter or Public Danger Confirmed
Schools in the area went into lockdown on Tuesday morning and remained that way until a teen, police believed threatened a Haverhill Police Officer, had been detained, and it was confirmed there was no danger to the public.Initial reports on the situation indicated there was an active shooter in the area of the Woodsville Elementary School. Those reports were not accurate “No shooting occurred.,” “Out of an abundance of caution, some area schools were temporarily placed in lockdown.” Multiple officers from area police agencies responded and provided public safety coverage at the schools, including Woodsville Elementary, Haverhill Cooperative Middle School, and Woodsville High School. A Lisbon Police Officer and an officer from the Orford, N.H. police department stood near the high school’s entrance armed with rifles and wearing protective vests. They did not allow people to enter the school until it was confirmed there was no threat. That call came just after noon, and the officers left the school property. Other agencies involved were the Grafton County Sheriff’s Department and New Hampshire State Police.
