State Police is investigating the death of a man at a home

State Police is investigating the death of a man at a home on Lawson Road in Newport Town. State police reported that the man died in the afternoon on Christmas, after an altercation with someone with whom he shared a residence. The other person was treated at North Country Hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Police notes the altercation appears isolated and contained to the one address involving two people who knew each other. State Police were alerted to the emergency at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. They responded and found a 58-year-old man deceased at the scene. The other man, age 39, had already been taken by private vehicle to North Country Hospital. The man was treated for injuries and released. This investigation is in its early stages and no one is currently in custody. The body of the deceased man will be taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death. The names of those involved will be released following further investigation and notification of relatives.
