Swatting Threats Prompt Police Response at Multiple Vermont Schools

A tense moment for several Vermont schools on Tuesday after a series of swatting calls prompted a law enforcement response. Authorities say someone made threats against schools through a Department of Defense self-help chat line. Investigators quickly determined the threats were not credible, but as a precaution, officers were sent to 12 middle and high schools across Addison, Bennington, and Caledonia counties. The schools included Middlebury Union, Mt. Abraham, Vergennes, and Arlington Memorial, among others. No one was harmed, but law enforcement says these incidents are being taken seriously and the investigation is ongoing.
