The body of a missing kayaker at Burns Pond was found on Wednesday

The body of a missing kayaker at Burns Pond was found on Wednesday. He was identified as 33-year-old Caleb Sweatt of Lancaster. It concluded a three day search. Sweatt was reportedly not wearing a life preserver when he embarked on an evening paddle with friends Monday night and fell into the water. His companions could not locate him in the darkness and called 911. Whitefield Fire and Rescue were summoned to a possible drowning at around 9:30 p.m. Search crews combed the lake and shoreline for three days using divers, canine units, sonar equipment, a drone and several boats. Divers found Sweatt’s body at 8:15 yesterday morning near the location he was believed to be last scene.
