The drivers of two vehicles were hurt in a head-on crash

The drivers of two vehicles were hurt in a head-on crash Thursday morning on the North Danville Road. The smashed front ends of the Chevrolet Malibu and the Hyundai Elantra sat leaking fluids as St. Johnsbury Firefighters and CALEX EMTs worked together to aid the crash victims. Sean Lanphere, 27, of Newport, was the driver of the Malibu. Katherine Stone, 23, of St. Johnsbury, needed to be extracted from the driver’s seat of the Hyundai. Neither vehicle had a passenger. The drivers were taken by ambulance to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Lanphere was driving west on the North Danville Road, and Stone was coming from the opposite directions. Vermont State Police reported at the scene that it appears Stone’s Elantra entered the opposite lane and neither driver responded in time to avoid the collision.
