The sale of new Vermont Strong license plates raised more than a million dollars

The sale of new “Vermont Strong” license plates raised more than a million dollars for flood recovery. After last summer’s floods, Gov. Phil Scott revived the Vermont Strong plates first introduced after Tropical Storm Irene. For the reissue of the plates, the state also partnered with sock company Darn Tough to make license plate and sock bundles.  A new report to the Vermont Legislature shows the initiative brought in about $1.2 million. Of that, $180,000 went to production costs, another $464,000 was split between the Business Emergency Gap Assistance Program and the Vermont Community Foundation, and $128,000 went to a special Emergency Management fund.  There are still thousands of the license plates available.
