A Vermont man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities say he shot and killed his neighbor’s dog, then tried to cover it up by removing the dog’s tags. The Windham County Sheriff’s Office says it happened in Putney on Lower Cassidy Road on Nov. 27. Deputies arrested Michael Kirkpatrick, 62, of Putney, for animal cruelty. He’s also charged with reckless endangerment for firing the shot. He’s due in court next month.
