Vermont’s attorney general is suing two pharmaceutical middlemen, accusing them of driving up the cost of prescription drugs. Charity Clark is suing Evernorth and CVS, two pharmacy benefit managers that negotiate prices among pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurance companies and pharmacies. In a lawsuit,  Clark alleges Evernorth and CVS, along with 12 other organizations, are driving up prescription drug prices. “It is unconscionable that pharmacy benefit managers are lining their pockets with misleading costs and fees dressed up as rebates. They are keeping prescription drug prices astronomically high. Clark says Evernorth and CVS are two of the biggest PBMs in Vermont and control the contracts of about 95% of the commercial market.
