Fugitive Vermont Man Arrested in New Hampshire After Police Chase

A Vermont man considered “extremely dangerous” has been arrested by police in New Hampshire after two weeks on the run. Robert Dragon, 34, of Morristown, is now behind bars. Police in Keene, New Hampshire, say on Monday, an officer working a road construction detail recognized a stolen car driving west on Route 101 near Optical Ave. The officer tried to stop the car, a 2011 Volvo XC60, but the driver did not stop and quickly drove away. Keene Police followed the car into Chesterfield, where the driver stopped on Horseshoe Road. As police arrived, the driver crashed into a police cruiser before trying to drive off-road. The car got stuck in the snow, and the driver ran away. After a foot chase, both Keene and Chesterfield police took the driver, identified as Dragon, into custody. Police in the Northeast Kingdom announced earlier this month that they were looking for Dragon, who was wanted under multiple arrest warrants. Vermont State Police in the Barton-Irasburg area say they saw him driving erratically in a blue Volvo XC60. They said when they found him parked at a home in Barton, he refused to get out of the car and drove away toward an officer and through an active construction zone. Police did not follow him. Dragon was lodged at the Cheshire County House of Corrections pending an arraignment on Tuesday. He faces multiple charges including being a fugitive from justice because of Vermont arrest warrants, reckless conduct and resisting arrest.
