Vermont State Police say they determined the true identity of a man stopped on Interstate 91 in St. Johnsbury for drunken driving who lied about his name when arrested. Jason Ward, 39, of Williamstown, is charged with a fourth DUI related to the stop near mile marker 125 in the northbound lane of I-91 on March 12. Trooper Gabriel Schrauf reported the information, noting it was about 8:20 p.m. on March 12 when a vehicle was stopped on the interstate for “several motor vehicle violations.” Signs of impairment were noted by troopers, according to Trooper Schrauf and the driver was arrested. The driver reportedly said his name was Richard Manning. After the investigation state police said the man’s true identity was Ward. Ward faces multiple charges in addition to his fourth DUI, including lying to police, violating earlier conditions of release, and being a habitual offender, which allows for significantly increased penalties if convicted. Ward was cited to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on April 10.
