A former employee of the Vermont Department for Children and Families is accused of sexually assaulting a young person
A former employee of the Vermont Department for Children and Families is accused of sexually assaulting a young person she was working with. Following a nearly yearlong investigation by police, Sonja Herman, 31, of Swanton, was charged with sexual assault. Investigators say Herman had a yearslong sexual relationship with the victim that began when he was a juvenile in DCF custody when she worked as a DCF family services worker. Herman was in court Thursday and released on conditions including that she not supervise or care for children under 18.
