A labor action by Canadian border workers has been averted
A labor action by Canadian border workers has been averted for the moment, according to union officials. Thousands of Canada Border Services Agency workers have been negotiating with the Treasury Board of Canada, which oversees the CBSA, over pay and other benefits. Because they’re deemed an essential service and cannot strike, there was a strong possibility they would take other work-to-rule actions starting Friday that could cause delays. The union had a 4 p.m. deadline set for Friday. That has now been extended to next Wednesday, according to officials.
