A local man who assaulted an older man was convicted by plea agreement on Tuesday. Patrick Parris, 36, of Charleston, was sentenced to 18 months to six years in prison on a felony charge of burglary into an occupied dwelling. Parris will serve his time at Northern State Correctional Facility. In 2022, Parris pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of 1st degree aggravated domestic assault and felony burglary into an occupied dwelling. But the plea agreement dismissed the two aggravated domestic assault charges leaving the felony burglary case as the final charge. Before reaching a plea agreement with the state, Parris had been facing a possible sentence of up to 55 years in prison and $51,000 in fines.
