A man from Derby was killed on Sunday in West Burke

A man from Derby was killed on Sunday in West Burke after a ladder he was using while working on a roof came into contact with a power line. Casey Driver, 25, was pronounced dead at the apartment complex located at 4040 U.S. Rt. 5, according to a report by Vermont State Police Detective Trooper Joshua Lewis. Emergency crews were alerted about the accident about 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. Det. Lewis noted that Driver was performing roof work for Vincent’s Carpentry of Derby on the three-story apartment building when he struck a high-tension power line with a metal ladder, causing an electric shock. Driver then fell 25-30 feet off the roof.  VSP, along with the Vermont Occupational Health and Safety Administration, are investigating this incident. Lyndon Rescue also responded to the scene.
