A man with three arrest warrants and a woman charged with possession of cocaine were apprehended
A man with three arrest warrants and a woman charged with possession of cocaine were apprehended by Newport Police. Chrissy Lucas, 36, of Irasburg, didn’t show up in Court on Tuesday and Judge Justin Jiron then issued an arrest warrant with $200 bail. On Nov. 14, 2023, at approximately 2:56 a.m, Newport Police Officer Colin Sykes noticed a man identified as Joshua Lepage, 37, sitting in the back seat of a blue GMC Sierra. Police said Lepage is known to officers to have three different in-state arrest warrants and when the officers went to arrest him, Lepage attempted to resist arrest and flee police. Lepage also had knives, a machete and a hatchet on his person at the time he was resisting arrest and attempting to escape, said police. “Lepage also had 2 containers, one contained a rock-like substance.” wrote Ofc. Sykes in his report. After a search of Lepage, police located a hypodermic needle with a cap which police said is consistent with the use of drugs. Lepage also has a pending docket in Orleans Superior Court for selling or dispensing drugs near a school, said police in the report. “Also, in the truck was Lepage’s girlfriend, Ashley Deslandes, 32, whose is also known to use and sell illicit narcotics,” wrote Ofc. Sykes. Lepage has 12 charges including resisting arrest, escape custody of a police officer and disorderly conduct. The operator of the vehicle was Lucas. There was also a fourth person in the truck. But when police approached the truck the person exited the vehicle and ran. The fourth individual has not been identified. Lucas gave police verbal consent to search her purse. During the search there was a container found which contained a crack cocaine rock. Police tested the drugs and received positive results for cocaine powder and crack cocaine.
