A mental health urgent care facility in the Northeast Kingdom

 A mental health urgent care facility in the Northeast Kingdom has now opened its doors, 24/7. Northeast Kingdom Human Services’ Mental Health Urgent Care Facility, The Front Porch, opened in Newport June of last year. The facility opened for 24/7 care at the beginning of last month. Officials say so far, The Front Porch has already served 212 individuals – seeing a higher percentage of people visiting than local emergency rooms in the area. In total, the facility answered over six thousand calls in 2024 pertaining to a mental health crisis. Providers expect that number to grow. The facility is currently working to connect with more partners in the NEK so they can better serve others that might be out of reach of The Front Porch.
