A Troy man died in an early morning crash

A Troy man died in an early morning crash in Newport on Sunday. According to State Police, they were notified of a single vehicle roll over crash on Searles Road in Newport Center at about 1:15 a.m. Upon arrival, Troopers located a single vehicle off the south side of the roadway. Through investigation it was determined a 2016 Subaru WRX operated by Christopher Kirsch, 20, of Troy, was traveling east on Searles Road. Kirsch crossed the west bound lane of travel prior to going off the southbound side of the roadway. The car struck several trees prior to overturning. Kirsch, who was wearing his seat belt, was found deceased upon the arrival of emergency responders.  State Police were assisted on scene by Newport Center Fire Department and Newport Ambulance Service. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and anyone with information or who may have witnessed this crash, should contact the State Police in Derby.
