A U.S. Army reservist has been charged with child pornography by the Attorney Generals office

A U.S. Army reservist has been charged with child pornography by the Attorney General’s office. That’s according to a report by Detective Jesse Sawyer of the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children. Joshua Burbank, 37, of Newport, pleaded not guilty to five felony charges of possession of child sex material in Orleans Superior Court on Tuesday. He was released on conditions by Judge Justin P. Jiron.  Detective Sawyer said in his report that Burbank is reported to be an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve. The investigation started with the Newport Police Department. As a result of the investigation, devices were seized, and search warrants for examination were obtained. Burbank’s spouse, Michalea Burbank, 30, allegedly found Child Sexual Abuse Material on his device and reported the activity to the Newport Police Department. “There looks to be at least 15 or more videos of female children,” said Michalea Burbank, as part of her sworn written statement. On Aug. 9, 2023, the lab indicated they had found evidence of child pornography along with text messages from Joshua Burbank to his wife Michalea admitting to there being child pornography on his electronics. “I observed numerous files of Child Sexual Abuse Material.” Detective Sawyer said, ”Upon reviewing the files, I found they contained evidence of sexual exploitation of children.”
