Accused attempted murder suspect Chip Schneider stepped into the witness box

Accused attempted murder suspect Chip Schneider stepped into the witness box on Monday and testified about the shooting incident in Walden in 2021. Schneider said that his friend, Dylan Cady, was providing him with drugs and that they later got into a dispute in Schneider’s driveway. Schneider said Cady kept backing into him with a Chevy pick-up and that Schneider said he responded by shooting at the rear “wheel well” of the truck. Schneider said he wasn’t injured while the truck was backing into him and that he stopped shooting because he didn’t want to kill anyone.  “I actually pushed off the truck and pushed out of its way,” said Schneider. “At that point I drew my firearm and I started firing directly into the wheel well at a 90 degree angle. I felt like if I didn’t, I was going to get run over “From the testimony of Lt. Letourneau, it’s clear that multiple of those bullet strikes were located inside the doors,” said State’s Attorney Jessica Zaleski.  Schneider has been charged with 2nd-degree attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
