After deliberating for some five hours, Coos Superior Court jurors convening for the domestic violence case against ex-state Sen. Jeff Woodburn remained deadlocked, resulting in a mistrial. As of Thursday afternoon, after the court made the declaration following a request by the defense and no objection from the state, prosecutors from the New Hampshire attorney general’s office said they are uncertain if they will dismiss the charges or take the case to a third trial. In May 2021, Woodburn was convicted by a previous jury of a Class A misdemeanor count of domestic violence simple assault against his former fiancee, Emily Jacobs, 41, of Jefferson.
