Brothers from Concord are accused of trying to obstruct justice by reportedly threatening witnesses of an assault offense allegedly committed by one of them. Jesse Stevens, 36, and Howard Stevens, 43, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of obstruction of justice at their arraignments in the St. Johnsbury courthouse on Tuesday. Howard Stevens is facing three counts, and Jesse has been charged with one count. Jesse Stevens in which he is accused of aggravated assault against William Bunnell. Jesse Stevens is accused of assaulting Bunnell on May 9, 2022. It was reported that Bunnell suffered a brain injury and needed to have part of his cheekbone removed. According to an affidavit from Vermont State Trooper Jason Danielsen, Bunnell, 48, and Jazmyn Cummings, 28, reported the allegations that led to the obstruction charges against the brothers. The report states that Cummings told him that when she and Howard Stevens were living together Howard Stevens assaulted her seven times and “each time Howard would punch her in the face and say that she needed to recant her statement against Jesse.”
