Massachusetts Woman Killed in I 91 Rollover Crash in Thetford Driver Cited for Negligent Operation
A Massachusetts woman died and three others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 91 South in Thetford, according to Vermont State Police. The crash occurred around 1:54 p.m. near mile marker 83.4 during rainy weather and on a roadway with standing water. Troopers say a 2004 Pontiac GTO driven by Joseph Hamilton, 40, of New Hampshire, failed to maintain its lane and struck a guardrail. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and rolled over. Alyssa Tetreault, 27, of Pepperell, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, police said. Hamilton, also unbelted, was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Two children — an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to DHMC as a precaution. Hamilton has been cited to appear in Orange County Criminal Court on June 11 to face a charge of grossly negligent operation resulting in death. The crash remains under investigation.
