New Burke Mountain Owners Outline Vision for Four Season Resort After 115 Million Deal

Vermont ski enthusiasts heard for the first time on Tuesday from the new owners of Burke Mountain Resort following last week’s closure on the $11.5 million deal to buy the resort out of federal receivership. The new owners, Bear Den Partners, are made up of Ken Graham, Jon Schaefer, and Burke Mountain Academy. With over 2000 feet of vertical terrain, four lifts, and 54 trails, Burke will be on the Indy Pass, alongside Jay Peak and Bolton Valley. The aim is to leverage Burke’s proximity to I-91, Kingdom Trails, and the plan to offer more year-round activities like camping — with the hope of turning it into a four-season resort. The sale of Burke marks the end of another chapter of the Kingdom Con, but there are still unanswered questions, including the future of the gaping hole in downtown Newport.
