Plea agreement has been reached
A plea agreement has been reached regarding accused embezzler Lisa Goodell. But the agreement has not been approved by a judge yet. Goodell’s change-of-plea hearing is scheduled for today at 11:30 a.m. in. Goodell, 54, of Waterford, is accused of embezzling more than $240,000 in 2021 from her employer. She told investigators she was trying to support her two adult sons including one with a $2,000-a-day drug habit. The investigation began after troopers received a report of missing money from Goodell’s former St. Johnsbury employer – “MCB Leasing” and “Classic Designs by Matthew Burak.” Goodell was employed as the bookkeeper and “managing consultant” by the companies from 2018 to 2021. Goodell will also have to pay restitution of $150,000. The rest will be taken care of by insurance.
