Three NVRH staff members and a state trooper were reportedly assaulted by a Hardwick man
Three NVRH staff members and a state trooper were reportedly assaulted by a Hardwick man on March 25. According to a report by Trooper Griffin Pearson, who lists himself as a victim, Tyler Roy, 27, committed three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer/health care worker, simple assault and aggravated disorderly conduct at the hospital in the early evening of March 25. The trooper’s report notes that state police had received reports of a male at the hospital who was destroying property, assaulting staff, and wielding a chainsaw. When state police arrived, Trooper Pearson noted, the male was “in the parking lot actively assaulting staff.” Troopers confronted him and took him into custody. He was immediately taken from the hospital. In addition to Trooper Pearson, the other people listed as assault victims are three staff members of NVRH. State police determined that while Roy had a chainsaw case with him, a chainsaw was not used in the assault. Roy was cited to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on May 6 for arraignment.
