Two individuals were detained on unrelated out-of-state arrest warrants

Two individuals were detained on unrelated out-of-state arrest warrants regarding the death of Christina M. Chatlos, 38, on Portland Street last week. The medical examiner determined the cause of her death was a gunshot wound to her torso, and the manner of death was a homicide. But Vermont State Police Public Information Officer Adam Silverman said, in general, that nothing can be provided to the public based on juvenile or family court. “There are a number of reasons in Vermont why the names of individuals might not be able to be released, including if they’re subject of a sealing order in court, are juveniles, are subject to the jurisdiction of the Family Court, or similar situations that could prohibit the police under state law from disclosing any information,” said Silverman. Silverman was not speaking about a specific case or investigation. No further information about the two individuals are available. Chatlos, of Barre and Williamstown, was killed on Portland Street on Tuesday evening, Jan. 23, near the Cornerstone School. Chatlos was found in her car after St. Johnsbury Police received a report from a passerby who saw a vehicle with bullet holes in it at the parking lot in the area of 510 Portland Street. Chatlos was found inside the vehicle and deceased. The Vermont State Police (VSP) and the St. Johnsbury Police Department are continuing to investigate the shooting.
