Vermont state historic sites are opening up for the season with a big focus on America’s 250th anniversary. The Bennington Battle Monument opened Friday. Chimney Point, Hubbardton Battlefield, Mount Independence, and the President Calvin Coolidge Historic Site will open Friday, May 23 and the President Chester Arthur Historic Site opens Saturday, May 24. Two historical sites will be closed for preservation work: the Senator Justin Morrill site and the Old Constitution House. The goal is to re-open the sites in 2026 and 2027 in time for more anniversary celebrations.
