Vermont State Police arrested a teenager on Tuesday

Vermont State Police arrested a teenager on Tuesday, in the fatal shooting of another juvenile Monday night in Bristol. Police say Madden Gouveia, 14, of Shelburne, was killed. Hussein Mohamed, 14, of Burlington, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The Addison County State’s Attorney’s Office is charging Mohamed as an adult. According to the police, Mohamed was sitting in the rear passenger seat of a vehicle parked outside a home on North Street in Bristol. He had a handgun that discharged and struck Gouveia as he sat in the front passenger seat. First responders found Gouveia critically injured and rendered aid before transporting him by ambulance to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
