Vermonters Travel to Montreal for At Par Event Supporting US Canada Friendship Amid Tensions

Vermonters are organizing a goodwill gesture in a show of support for Canada today. A group of about 50 Vermonters will travel to Montreal this morning for “At Par,” a goodwill event at the Jean Talon Market that aims to celebrate the longstanding, friendly relationship between the United States and Canada. Instead of converting U.S. dollars to Canadian dollars, the visiting Americans will offer U.S. cash at par to Canadian vendors. The event was put together in response to what organizers say are unjust threats, tariffs, and political posturing against Canada by the United States. Vermont’s State Treasurer will be in attendance.
