Woman Airlifted After Serious Crash on Route 2 in Lunenburg
A serious crash in Lunenburg on Thursday afternoon resulted in a medical helicopter evacuation. Authorities say 46-year-old Amy Mackay suffered severe injuries when her Jeep Gladiator crossed the centerline, struck a utility pole, and went down an embankment along Route 2. Emergency responders extricated Mackay from the wreckage before she was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. A 12-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to Littleton Regional Healthcare. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but officials say weather and road conditions were not factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is encouraged to contact the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
