Littleton Civic Booster Club has stepped in to fill the gap and will be coordinating a motorcade as a replacement
After the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 816 canceled this year’s Memorial Day parade/procession along Main Street, the Littleton Civic Booster Club has stepped in to fill the gap and will be coordinating a motorcade as a replacement.
The VFW-led Memorial Day parade/procession, which for about a half hour closes Main Street from Meadow Street to past Cottage Street, has been an annual mainstay in the community for four decades. But on May 10, Dan Greenlaw, a member of the Littleton VFW Post 816 and co-chair of the VFW’s Memorial Day ceremony and parade, said that several factors led the VFW having to cancel it for this year. On Friday, Hartwell said he spoke with a number of people who expressed disappointment about the parade not happening this year. On Thursday, Hartwell put out his message to the public. “The response I got was unbelievable,” he said. And even if participants just show up, they can still join the motorcade. “This is a very informal thing,” said Hartwell.
