Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in the town of Orange. It happened Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m. outside a home on Spencer Road, where investigators say a man was shot and killed by a state trooper. State Police say the man died at the scene. They say they don’t yet know who he is, and his body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, and to help identify him. The trooper involved was not injured and was taken to the hospital in Berlin for evaluation as a precaution. State police say they will release the name of the trooper involved the day after the shooting, which is standard protocol. Police say the investigation is still in its earliest stages.
